Living in Muro, Mallorca.

Situated slightly inland in the agricultural region of Pla de Mallorca, Muro is a traditional rural village, which also boasts the small resort of Playa de Muro. This picturesque village, with its sandstone buildings and old church, is a typical example of traditional Mallorca.

Nowadays, Muro counts on tourism and agriculture, it has a rich farming tradition that still continues to this day. In this area you can find many fresh products and a large wine industry.

Muro is a lively town, with all the shops and services needed for day to day life. There is an impressive market of fresh local produce on Sunday mornings and on some Wednesday evenings there is a craft market on the beach of Muro.

The church of Sant Joan Baptista, in Catalan Gothic style, is more than 400 years old and was erected to replace the old church, due to the rapid growth of the population. The other church worth mentioning belongs to the convent of Santa Anna. In 1910 the bullring was built with stones from the local quarry, which is still active.

The fiestas of Sant Joan are celebrated for two weeks in July and at the beginning of November, there is an annual autumn fair.
